Poem
Here is an english version of a piece I gave to the Peace Corps staff as a celebratory note when we were sworn-in. I’ll post the Castellano prose version next…..
Stars are shining, the heavens whispering,
as tonight I look into the sky
Luminaries beaming, all in position,
awaiting my watchful eye
Here, there’s no distraction
as they rest in the navy blue,
Floating in the inky sky-ocean,
a brilliant display to view
Someday I’ll go there, sit in the lights,
perhaps converse with those stars
Fly circles and swirl through the Milky Way,
See Neptune and Venus and Mars
Surely they know their impact!
So boldly they shine where they’re placed
All we can do is exclaim in wonder
at how they’re positioned in space
What a performance is taking place
there in the far heavens, yet near
We stand, applaud and shout Bravo, Bravo!
for the light we display right here
The light we have is strength and power
Our light is encouragement and love
We speak it aloud, hold it in our hearts,
and gleam as those stars do above
So obvious is your own brilliance!
We each are a shining star
We’re equipped with all we need
to shine brightly wherever we are
Each moment we have is luminous..
Life is a glorious celebration
So, take your places and brightly beam
We’re the Stars in God’s Constellation
