Of course, it’s true that life is full of challenges and surprises.  But, it’s interesting the color these take on while living in a foreign country.  Seems like daily experiences in a new culture tend to be magnified.  I work to communicate, while a series of things begin to happen all at once. I listen intensely, process the meaning, observe the cultural differences in thought, form opinions, consider my response, then make an effort to “compartir” in Spanish, sharing my thoughts with those around me.  I am grateful that I can take the time to observe these new people and places, realize our differences, put things in perspective as best as possible, and continue to move forward.  It shakes up my old methods and ways, and welcomes in some new!  It has been a gift.
