Maria Conchena walked in with a chicken and plopped it down on the dining table where I was working. Grinning big, struggling to hold it. This plump feathered creature flapped away while Maria held on tight, and it eventually found its “inside voice” and calmly sat on the table. I asked what we were doing. I thought Maria simply wanted to come show me an up close view because she knows how I react to all the animals running around outside. She knew I’d be ecstatic to get the show ‘n tell. I didn’t realize until later that we were preparing for lunch!
