As I watched and listened to the violinist, (an excerpt of which you can hear below) my eyes welled up with tears. I stood there on that bridge built in 1347, the Charles Bridge which crosses over the Vlatava River, joining Prague Castle to Old Town. I marveled at the foot of the monuments standing guard there on that balmy day and listened to his song that so easily took me in.

I thought about this man and the gift he was giving, not just to me, a woman who lives oceans away, but to all of us – the myriad of people from every country in the world who were walking on the bridge that day.  I didn’t speak with him but I feel that he knows his music is beautiful, touching, and he wants to tell it’s story.

He may be there to make money, yes, but I know he loves his instrument and is immersed in that moment with the message he’s sharing. He must be. Listen to it.  In just the few lines I recorded, you hear that the melody pleads and calls, pulling gently yet so convincingly at your heart, then finally once it has you, it rejoices! I love the unspoken gift of music.

Oh, the far-reaching effects, the things that happen when we put our God-given gifts into action – it’s simply divine!

Love,

Jane
