After the multiple security issues and other factors I experienced in my site, it was decided that it was best that I no longer live in Yataity.  With sadness, but with great hope for the future, I have said my goodbyes.  I have made many beautiful friends in Yataity and I will never forget them. I will be writing another blog in the near future with information about my new assignment.  More and more I am impressed with the Peace Corps and the way they have handled the details of my move.  I am full of gratitude for them!

Below is the letter I posted to Yataity on facebook today, in my attempt at Spanish, and then the English version.

———————————————————

Abrazos,
Yeni

En él no hay sur ni norte;
Pero una gran comunión de amor
A lo largo de toda la tierra.”

My Friends of Yataity, I will miss you all! I am re-posting some thoughts I had written previously regarding the artisans of Yataity, because these words describe my thoughts completely, for you and for all of Yataity. To all the artisans and all the people of Yataity – Thank you for your friendship and your support.

Dear Artisan, what did your hands make this day? Knowing exactly where to place a stitch, you speak with your friend, your sister, your mother, all the while painting a picture with needle, thread.

We smile and say “A Dios!” and I know you are working hard yet enjoying the moment-after-rewarding-moment of seeing designs that your hands so gently commandeer onto cloth.

Just imagine the loveliness those hands will make! And each day will bring with it new creativity and innovation. Look with anticipation to the successes that you will have in life.

I thank you. Please thank one another and then pass it on. Spread the gratitude you have for this place, and for the opportunity you have to live together of one accord in a place like no other, asking blessings daily for the lives of each other, in this tiny, beautiful pueblo, Yataity.

Hugs,
Jane
